The Hidden Land by Pamela Dean

What confused me.....

One thing that confused me was that one of the sub-characters in the book (the character is called the King) is poisoned and in the book it says that the poison was in the glass but the only person who could have poisoned the glass was one of the main characters, who according to the book was trying to stop the King from dying.

The more I think about it the more obvious it becomes that the author was  purposely trying to be confusing, to get the reader to contune reading so that they can figure out what actually happened. Also, the author is trying to make it so that you can not guess who actually poisoned the King.

It was even more confusing because the main characters knew that the King was going to be poisoned  and who was originally supposed to poison the King but after the King was poisoned they suspect that a different character was the murder.

Anothor thing that I find confusing is that in the book the author switches between the point of view of characters without any marking of when that happens. I think that the author does that so that you have to pay more attention to the exact words that she uses. I wish that she would have marked it in some way but it makes the book more interesting.
